The bicycle and pedestrian culture that is emerging in the Burlington region and throughout Vermont was expressed in a wide variety of lectures, workshops and tours on offer. Our very own Jason Van Driesche and Katelin Brewer-Colie presented on laying out a safe walk/bike network in Chittenden County, and Mary Catherine Graziano shared her knowledge on Safe Routes to School. Friends and colleagues discussed advocacy and trends, sharing stories both recreational and professional.
Keynote speaker Caroline Sampanaro, from New York's leading bike and pedestrian advocacy group encouraged the audience to think creatively, to think big, and to think inclusively. As Senior Director of Campaigns and Organizing, she championed the importance of a grassroots community-based
strategy, one that has positively transformed New York City over the past decade. She regularly speaks around the nation raising hopes of a bright future for biking and walking across the US.
